Reclaimed Pine and Red Oak Countertop . Finished with 100% pure Tung oil, thinned with mineral spirits to accelerate drying. We accentuated the original mill marks in this red oak edging by filling with black epoxy and sanding smooth. The material for this countertop was taken from the same home that it went back into! I made this floating shelf using some old pine boards I found under the porch of the little old hunting cabin we had just purchased and moved into. It’s basically a three sided mitered box, sanded with 80 grit up to 220 grit, stained and finished with Tung Oil. I mounted the shelf to the wall using a 2×4 that was a part of the original shelving on this wall. Glued and screwed the cleat to the wall, then glued and nailed the shelf to the cleat. My 250 lbs stepdad out all his weight on it coming up off the floor and it didn’t budge! A triangle shelf I made out of old plywood that was once shelving in my tool trailer and fire wood. This was April 2020… I had a lot of time on my hands! This is a plant shelf made with a piece of old wood found in a pile outside and scraps of alder from a job site. Tung oil finish. Another COVID project.
