We started with 16' lengths of 1' x 6' Pine, constructing U beams and L beams with wood biscuits, pocket screws, and glue. Lot's of sanding followed - 3 grits of sandpaper down to 220 for a very smooth finish. We installed the beams to cleats glued and nailed to the ceiling.
